What decides the cost of a website in India?
Ask five agencies for a website quote and you'll get five very different numbers. Here's what actually drives the price, so you can compare quotes fairly and avoid paying twice.
1. Number and type of pages
A five-page business site and a forty-page site with blogs and service pages are very different projects. More pages means more design, content and testing.
2. Custom design vs. templates
Templates are cheaper upfront but often slow, generic and hard to rank. Custom design costs more initially but loads faster, converts better and reflects your brand.
3. Features
Booking systems, payments, logins, multiple languages and integrations each add work. Decide which features you need now and which can wait for phase two.
4. Content writing and photos
Good copy and real photos make or break a site. Check whether the quote includes writing, editing and image optimisation, or expects you to supply everything.
5. Ongoing costs
Ask about these upfront so there are no surprises:
- Domain renewal every year
- Hosting and SSL security
- Business email
- Maintenance, updates and support
How to get a fair quote
Ask for a fixed price with a written scope: pages, features, timeline and what happens after launch. Make sure the domain is registered in your name and that you own the site and its content.
